My friends recently had their third baby girl and they have given me the privilege of capturing their family as they grow. So I took pictures of Evangeline as a newborn and recently as a 3 month old. She is very much like her sisters and very much her own person. I love how kids are like that. One can find the similarities, but right along side the similarities are the things that make each. one. unique.
This little sweetheart was just precious and definitely enjoys her sleep - which I LOVE to capture because there is just nothing so sweet, snuggly and precious as a sleeping baby. And I love to capture the moments because, they're only little for a little while.
Savor the smallness.
So a few year's ago I read a book. And not just any book, it was a book that resonated with the type of person that I want to be in this life. It is funny, easy to relate to, and easy to read (which for a working mama with two littles is a must). I squeaked in the reading over a few nap times and some evenings to finish in about 2 weeks - it was THAT good.
And now, there's a new edition of the book that has just come out! I was privileged to take photos of the authors and design a website for the books: http://theshowupbook.com. Now, designing websites is not something I do often (although I do love a good design project), but when it's for something I believe in and with wonderful people - who can pass up the opportunity. So be sure to check out the website above and order a copy of Show Up or the Show Up: Student Edition and you'll be engaged, entertained, and moved to be a part of the #showupgeneration.
Here are a few pics I took of David Staal and Scott Staal for the website:
Well, it is almost spring and I am SO looking forward to being outside more and the gorgeous photo weather that comes with spring and summer in Michigan. YAY!
But, I do find that I am still feeling like I need to cuddle in my blankets, wear my sweatshirts/coats, and not quite ready to break out the short sleeves. And as much as I don't like being cold, I have found that I have some brave and wonderful clients who ARE willing to brave the weather for some great memories captured. Around Christmas time, I did some Christmas mini shoots that were a lot of fun out at Prince Christmas Tree farm in Zeeland - however, there were 2 things that happened on the blog. 1. I didn't want to post the pictures too early in case people were using them for Christmas cards, etc. 2. Since I didn't post them right away, I completely forgot that I didn't post them. So, a walk down memory lane of when it was just starting to get cold, but there was no snow on the ground.
We had a lot of fun and were able to capture one of the cutest pouty lips you will ever see. ENJOY
Thanks to all the families who braved the cold and made sweet red and green memories to last a lifetime.
And now, bring on the spring!
It always amazes me, the whole becoming a parent. It's such a weird feeling. One day, it's like you're not a parent (although you've prepped and prepped and tried to be), and then the next day you are. Boom. You are now responsible for this little tiny human. Keeping it alive, keeping it clothed, warm, clean and everything else that goes with being a parent. It's one of the most amazing things. And how sweet it can be - for you once were just two, and now you are three.
Being comfy and cozy is all I can think about this time of year. So I like to try and incorporate that peace, calm, and relaxed atmosphere for all of my clients. After you see the images below you'll know what I mean. They just make me want to curl up in a blanket, with a good book, cup of tea and forget that time exists.
So this is my friend's third, beautiful baby girl, and I have loved capturing each one. So precious. For this little one's photo shoot, we chose the room of the house that has the pink blush walls. A happy color for a happy little girl.
Smiles for days after seeing that sweet face light up.
Although it was the end of September, it was extremely warm for this year's fall mini shoots. So, instead of dressing fall-ish, the VanV family decided to embrace the warm temperatures and dress for the weather. It paid off in beautiful photos with the warm fall light, but the softness and gentleness that comes with summer.
No better way to end then with eskimo kisses.
I was blessed to capture some wonderful families in the morning before the temperature rose to 90 degrees one Saturday a few weeks ago. Thankfully we all made it through the odd September heat and still managed to get smiles and beautiful fall light. Thanks to everyone who came out! Here's part 1 of the sessions.
Now, natural beauty could reflect many things these days. But what I want to focus on is the little girl that was recently born. Because of the beautiful weather I was able to get most of her newborn pictures outside in the natural light, with wood and trees as our backdrop. Couldn't have asked for a better backdrop or more beautiful setting. Enjoy her small-ness because already she seems way too big now.
Jon and Terra welcomed a little one into their home recently, and I was allowed to capture her beauty and the moments that we parents want to remember forever. The tiny, chubby arms. The adorable smiles and giggles. All of the smallness that goes away all too quickly.
Photography allows us to capture moments to return to and to help us remember all the little things we love.
You are beautiful people inside and out. So thankful for you Jon and Terra!
