Well, it was another beautiful Michigan day and I headed out to meet the Schopp family in downtown Holland. Color coordinating outfits with some of the downtown scenery, we set off for a great few hours together. We began at Alpen Rose and enjoyed the alley-way right next door. The swinging gates and beautiful atmosphere was a pleasure to capture. We had a lot of fun and their faces show it... Then we took some of the adorable couple. And we finished up at the park with more fun and feet! Thanks for letting me take your picture Schopps!

The Wright family is one I have come to know and love. The littlest Wright is full of smiles and giggles for his parents. His mother, who did a FANTASTIC job picking out his cute outfit with tie and hat, is a gem, and his father, is one of those men who is kind to everyone he comes in contact with.
Aidan, you are sure to have a wonderful life with parents such as these. And now on to the pictures... It has been my pleasure to photograph Arawyn Do since she was a newborn and even more fun was her recent 1 year old photo shoot! Filled with smiles and so many faces, Arawyn is truly growing up to be a gorgeous girl. Her spunky personality and "I can do it" attitude is refreshing. She is quite the natural in front of the camera as you'll see - she poses all on her own - it's just my job to catch it :) It's amazing to watch kids grow, and even more fun to photograph the process - and thanks Evie for letting us use your house for the photo shoot! And after the chair, it was time to walk....climbing chairs takes work, walking with dad's help is much easier! Oy, they take so many photos of me. I don't think she sees me yet... A ballerina, just like mommy...
Well, we all need food. The problem is, some of us don't have the means to pay for food these days. So, my church (Engedi) has become part of a ministry called Gleaners. A truck arrives full of food and we help distribute it to those in need - for more details, click on Gleaners. I have helped out with this ministry a few times, but more recently I had the pleasure of photographing others in action. Here are some of the photos from a Gleaners event at our church a few weeks ago. And nothin' beats warming up with a good cup of cocoa after being outside for a few hours on a cold day.
So, I was blessed in college with a wonderful roommate, who I would not have known, had I not gone to Hope College. Sarah is one of those true friends. Those friends that make you love life more, laugh harder at mistakes made, and whom you want to hang out with all the time - one of those kinds of friends. Well, we like to hang out, and take pictures. I took a few of her and she kindly took a few of me :) Enjoy the weird February weather with snow on the bridges, and sun in the air. And don't bright, colorful scarves just make everything better! Thanks Jennifer Visser for letting us borrow a bunch of your scarves!
The sun was shining and it was warmer than usual when Terra arrived at my house. She hopped in my car and we headed off to Riley Trails to take some pictures. The drive was picturesque, the conversation even more delightful. You see, Terra is one of those people you want everyone to know. She is sweet, caring, tender, loving, and genuine. Her smile beams and she is beautiful on the inside and outside.
I was glad we were able to spend time together, although our time outdoors did not last long. Soon the clouds of Michigan rolled in and we caught ourselves bringing in equipment, while holding an umbrella, and avoiding mud puddles - smiling and chatting the whole time. We came inside to finish the shoot and get warm at our wonderful local coffeeshop, JP's. I was really excited to take pictures of Terra that Wednesday. For not only was she a great friend, but she is up to great things and that always gets me excited. She was only back for a few months so I wanted to be sure and catch her while she was back. You see, Terra spends most of her time, currently, over in Zambia. She works with a community organization over there and is helping orphans through Africa's Child as well. Her heart beats for others and it aches for community to be restored. Thanks for letting me photograph you, my beautiful friend! God bless your travels and may you go wherever He will take you. Meet Benjamin Slakes - one of the fastest crawlers and most smiley kids I have ever known, and who recently had his 1 year birthday! Benjamin is one of those kids who is full of energy and being the 5th child, can still hold his own. He gives the best hugs, loves everyone, and at this point in life, is pretty much not afraid of anything. So big! (in a little sort of way)... Discovering the snow (when we had some). And lastly, my favorite. He is so filled with joy it just makes me smile and makes my day better - I hope it makes yours better too!
Well, the day started off just right. There was enough snow on the ground to cover it and make it white, but not sooo much that people would have a difficult time making it to the wedding. And mid-way through the day it snowed, a LOT. It was the perfect day in January for a wedding.
Kyle and Meghan originally met at school and spent countless hours working on a group project together. This is where they began to get to know each other a bit better. As their relationship progressed, they realized how "different" they were from each other. Meghan liked to read a good book for hours on end while Kyle wanted to go skydiving (okay so the examples are the extremes, but you get the idea). Throughout their relationship and the ups and downs that all relationships go through, they realized to enjoy these differences in each and that they complimented each other even better than they thought. This past year Meghan shared one of their favorite songs with me and I would have to agree, it describes their relationship very well. It was a joy to capture their day and the joy that surrounded every moment - and Kyle and Meghan, may you have many more snow covered kisses! Well the title is appropriate for 2 reasons.
1. Arawyn is possibly one of the cutest babies that are around...although she is getting to be not as much of a baby anymore these days, but still adorable, and... 2. these images were taken at the store Spring Sweet in downtown Holland, MI. So: sweet baby + sweet store = awesome pictures. Thanks so much for letting us use your store Spring! If there was one thing I could change about this past year, it would be to get you your images faster...so, I have a new website that will make this possible!
By changing the look and layout of my website, I will now be able to provide online proofing for clients - meaning you'll be able to receive an email from me, with a link, view your images, and then let me know which ones you would like on a DVD. This will make the transfer much smoother and faster! I hope you enjoy looking around at the new features, pricing, etc. and look forward to a blog about the wedding I photographed this past weekend soon. Happy January! |
